Good point. The main thing for international students would be to bring documents and money. Here is a quick guide on the basics: http://international.curtin.edu.au/pre-departure/bring/
Maybe after you’ve packed just the essentials, you could just see if you already have anything else on the list that will fit into your luggage.

Thanks for posting this – very useful! It’d be good if there was also a section for basic essentials or something for international students who will only have, say, a suitcase and a carry-on bag to take stuff with them. if you feel like doing that at any point, it would help students who can’t pack a lot of stuff.
